Certified Nursing Assistant Program

The Smithwood Nursing Assistant program is designed to prepare students for real-world patient care and the state benchmarks measured by certification exams. Our curriculum covers the following topics:

Certified Nursing Assistant Refresher Course

To renew your CNA license in Texas, you must complete a Certified Nursing Assistant Refresher Course that satisfies the state’s requirements for continuing education. Smithwood Medical Institute offers a self-paced refresher course that fulfills the 24-hour in-service education requirement. 

Upon successful completion of the course, you must submit documentation, including proof of your completed training, your CNA license, Texas Employment Verification, a photo ID, your Social Security Card, and either your diploma or transcript from high school. Once all requirements are met and your documents are submitted, your CNA license can be reinstated, allowing you to continue your vital work in patient care.

First, you will register for our self-paced online course, which must be completed within 30 days of registration. Throughout the seminar, you will engage with the course material, complete quizzes, and track your hours to meet the 24-hour in-service education requirement. 

After completing the course, simply print your certificate of completion and submit it along with the required documentation to officially renew your CNA license.

To become a phlebotomist in Texas, you will complete our certified training program, which includes at least 135 hours of applied experience and the performance of a minimum of 30 successful unaided venipuncture collections and 10 capillary collections. 

Phlebotomy classes are available at Smithwood Medical Institute in Houston, Texas. Our comprehensive phlebotomy technician training program combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience, preparing you for a successful career in the field. 

After completing the program, you’ll be eligible to take the national certification exam to become a Certified Phlebotomy Technician, equipping you with the essential skills needed to excel in your career.

The Smithwood Phlebotomy Technician training program consists of a comprehensive curriculum that includes both theoretical knowledge and hands-on training. The program encompasses a minimum of 135 hours of applied experience, covering a variety of collection techniques such as vacuum collection, syringes, and capillary/skin-puncture methods. 

Students will also gain practical experience by performing at least 30 successful unaided venipuncture collections and 10 successful unaided capillary collections, ensuring they are well-prepared for their careers as phlebotomists.
